[Freefont-bugs] What's next? |

Hi,
Now that Freefont is in synch with Debian ttf-freefont, what's next?
Well, I applied one outstanding patch that had never been applied.
As near as I can tell, this is the last of the outstanding patches.
This is important, because the SFD (Spline Font Database) format used
by fontforge changed (quite some time ago) from version 1 to 2.
Merely saving any of the existing SFD files with any modern version of
font forge results in sweeping changes to the file; few patches would
be applicable afterward.
But the new fontforge has lots of great new features, and I found it
much more stable than some earlier versions.
Except...
Tonight I found that fontforge crashes trying to generate a TrueType
font from FreeSerifItalic.
Only that one file...the other font files work fine.
So, what is next is;
1) to find out what is crashing font forge on this one file and fix it.
2) to save and commit all the font files in the new SFD 2 format.
Cheers!
