All,

As a new lurker on the ML I've been asked to introduce myself. My name
is Lyle Johnson and I'm employed as a software engineer for CFD Research
Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama. Most of my work involves software
development in C/C++ and Python, but I've also done a lot of software
development in Java at a previous job. I have not yet had the
opportunity to get paid to do Ruby software development, but I haven't
lost hope ;)

My involvement with the Ruby community began a few years back, when I
started working on FXRuby (http://www.fxruby.org), the Ruby bindings to
the FOX GUI toolkit. Since then I've also picked up maintenance of the
Ruby module for SWIG (http://www.swig.org) and co-authored the Ruby
Developer's Guide with Michael Neumann and Robert Feldt. I've also done
presentations on FXRuby and SWIG at the last two Ruby conferences.

Until now I have mostly been watching FreeRIDE's status from the
sidelines, offering informal FXRuby help to Rich, Curt and some others
as needed; at this point I'd like to try to get more formally involved.
I expect that I'll be able to help most with FOX GUI-related issues, but
I also hope to be able to contribute to some other areas which are of
interest to me, like the refactoring capability for FreeRIDE.

Many thanks to everyone who's brought FreeRIDE this far, and I hope that
I can be of some help as well.

Lyle
