Actually, it seems this is a bug in the auto-hinter !!
I'm currently working on this very problem. I'd suggest you
to either:

  - wait a few weeks that I commit the fix
  - enable the truetype bytecode interpreter (patent warning!)
    by toggling TT_CONFIG_OPTION_BYTECODE_INTERPRETER in the
    file include/freetype/config/ftoption.h
