It matters because since 2.2.1, selecting the light hinting mode will
enforce the auto-hinter, independent of the native font format.

I have commited some changes to the auto-hinter, please check to see
if the new version satisfies you. There is no way we're going to reproduce
exactly the light hinting from 2.1.10 for various reasons, but this one
should be pretty good too.
