I've applied your suggested changes, thanks.  Regarding this issue:

  In the spec of FT_Var_Axis, the author(s) should be more explicit:

  It seems that for MM fonts, minimum, maximum and def fields contain
  in fact FT_Long values rather than FT_Fixed.  But these fields
  contain FT_Fixed values for GX (var) fonts.  Note that
  sizeof(FT_Fixed) == sizeof(FT_Long) and both are of the same type
  signed long.  The developers of freetype have decided to just
  declare these fields as FT_Fixed.  The interpretation of these
  values in the program code depends on the type of the font being
  considered (MM or GX).

George, can you help resolving this issue?
