Oscar, 

I'm in a very similar situation, except I'm using Ubuntu Lucid, and I think
I've overwritten freetype 2.3.11 (the Ubuntu Lucid default) with version
2.4.3. 

Have you had any luck getting your fonts to show? If so, how?
