Hi,
 Harfbuzz was used by Android from start as harfbuzz is the base complex rendering (OTF supporting) engine and also used in Webkit as well. With KitKat I think Andorid is shifted to harfbuzz-ng (need to check) latest version of Harfbuzz.

Yes.

Android now uses HarfBuzz for layout, AFAIK.  HarfBuzz provides Swash
support.  However, I don't know at which version Android switched to
HarfBuzz.
