See my previous e-mail. I don't use Ubuntu, so I can't tell you
whether stuff gets automatically put into `lib/x86_64-linux-gnu', or
whether you have to provide a `--libdir' option to the configure
script...
However, this isn't something for worrying. Just use $(libdir)...
