Re: [ft-devel] LD version script

OK, I looked over the script and it make sense as to what it is doing - it is iterating over the various
branches used to build FreeType.  However, I know from SUSE packaging needs, the build of FT
for SUSE packages is based on the tarball and patches to be applied against the tarball (you can
see this in the openSUSE Open Build System (build.opensuse.org) for ghostscript.  So I propose
as part of the final packaging for a release, we check in the symbol version script and provide a
patch that can be applied against the tarball.  Or leave in the libtool options for using the version
script on GNU/Linux and Solaris, and have the version script checked in.  The reason for this is I
don't think that build systems will do a git clone and run the various scripts for symbol versioning
generation.

I can check on this, though. Behdad might have some input from how this is handled on the Red Hat
side of things.
