Everything is OK for me with bash-2.03 and GNU make 3.78.1.All the systems that I've tried this on appear to have GNU make 3.77. I use bash shell (1.14.7 on the server I'm looking at right now). Upgrading to make 1.79.1 (on a different server with bash 2.01.1) seems to make the build perform correctly, but I'm not convinced it's working. Can you find out whether make of bash is the problem?
Well upgrading Make on both systems to 1.79.1 seems to have done the trick (at least getting it to build correctly). This is for bash 2.01.1 and bash 1.14.7. So I would say that make is the problem.
