thx for the tip!
i finally managed to get ftview installed (-lm), but no good news :(

this is what i would like to achieve with freetype (at 12 pixels)
perfect symmetry, perfect shapes, perfect rendering.

but none of the variations of options of ftview could produce that look.

do you have any idea?
