And it may be that no early adopter thinks they've lost because their
aims are different from the pragmatist or conservative;  they've a
different value system.  For them, the benefit comes from the
`enjoyment' of being at the forefront, even if that particular one turns
out to be a dud dead end.  By the time that's apparent, they've moved
onto the next thing.
