It is great news.

On a techie note, as that press release says, GNU/kFreeBSD has been
included in this Debian release as a 'technical preview':

http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/kfreebsd-i386/
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/kfreebsd-amd64/

If you remember back, I did a talk including kFreeBSD in June:

GNU's Not Linux: kFreeBSD and Hurd kernels for the GNU System
<http://libreplanet.org/wiki/Manchester/2010-06-15>

The release of Debian GNU/kFreeBSD is also good for GNU/Hurd as it is
paving the way. Debian GNU/Hurd can now be installed using the Debian
installer, thanks, IMO, to the work of getting kFreeBSD installable via
the Debian installer. Though Hurd still has some way to go:

Cheers,
Mike.
