Greetings, and thanks for your feedback. I've just tried this and it
works for me. For readline support to be activated, GCL must be run
in a terminal (not an emacs shell buffer for example), and the
(si::init-readline) must be run, which is done customarily when
invoked via the shell script wrapper /usr/bin/gcl. And or course
readline support must have been built in. Where did you get your
build? Do a ldd on your saved_gcl to see if libreadline is there, and
check your configure output if you've built GCL yourself.
