OK Gordon
I'm using Emacs 21.3.1 from:
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/windows/emacs/21.3/
but apparently that location is still suffering the effects of the GNU
server break-in so you'll be flat out getting a copy!
I'm just making a new GCL installer now and will email you shortly about
where to get it.
Cheers
Mike Thomas.

| Mike,
|
| I would be happy to test a new binary and see if it gets rid of
| the ^M characters.
|
| Possibly the Emacs I am running is a bit old, though I imagine that
| Emacs is fairly stable.
|
| An older version of gcl, just a .exe, does not produce the ^M
| characters in Emacs, while the new self-installer version (gcl-2.6.1.exe)
| does produce them. Since this was a change from an earlier GCL,
| I assumed it due to something in GCL.
|
| My page at http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/novak/gclwin.html
| has both the versions I have used.
|
| Many thanks, Gordon
|
