Hi Camm.I fixed the build problem reported this morning with a compiler upgrade; gcc 3.4.2 with latest libs and binutils. Note that this is still under 32 bit Windows so the 64 bit Windows hurdle remains.
It took three weeks to repair my computer but it was worth the wait; the performance increase of the socket 754 AMD 64 3000+ over my work 2.4 GHz PIV with respect to building GCL was surprising:
make clean 16 times faster configure 5 " " make 2 " " make install 2 " "I had expected everything to be about 1.5x faster than the PIV at most, especially as I did not upgrade the hard disk from the old PIII system which died.
