-Wl,--as-needed is breaking the build of 1.2.5.
If you don't want/don't have time to support this sometimes
controversial flag, how about importing the flag-o-matic eclass and
running:
filter-ldflags -Wl,--as-needed
in pkg_setup or src_compile?
Btw, I'm not on the ML
