As long as you don't look at one (recent) political fallout and
failed reaction of the person in charge of the unperfekthaus,
it's okay[0].

Connections to Essen are alright for international visitors
aswell, Düsseldorf Airport is 1 - 1.5 hours by train.
UPF is located in the middle of the city, so there's a high
chance of other hotel, hostels, couch surfing, etc being
around. I only lived in the city so I just know about hotels.

[0]: sources only in german, basically: some right wing
associated group (Bürgerwehr) wanted to have weekly meetings
there, people protested, owner decided to just ignore both
(locked the unperfekthaus the day the group wanted to meet so
they couldn't get in) pretended the whole thing never happened,
later decided to publish an statement where everyone who isn't
harcore neutral was called extremist and taking positions would
be a very bad thing and ruins democracy. something along those
lines. So, insults for me, but for an event I could just ignore
this happened.
