We have every thing that any LUG needs like

* Domain Name
* Dedicated Server
* Tons of space to host from distros to Repos
* Active Mailing List
* Lots of subdomains under our glug site.

These are not really the most important things. What we actually need
is a community. A strong, dedicated, helpful community. Not
necessarily a big community, but a good one. One which you can be
proud of.

Once that is there the infrastructure automatically gets taken care of.

But, when it comes to content on the website it's pretty static and most
of it is untouched for ages. In the beginning there was MediaWiki where
we had flexibility to add whatever content we wish to have.

Yes that is right. Currently the most active things are
ftp://glug-nith.org/ and http://fedora.glug-nith.org/ since they
address the most pressing issues for GLUGer in our campus-- bandwidth.

If you guys can give any kind of remote access to the glug-server like
ssh, webmin or whatever I can help you in bringing glug website to a
good shape.

Sure. The good thing is that right now the server is no more behind
the institute firewall & NAT which was blocking SSH requests from
outside. We are now directly connected to the wild Internet (the
institute firewall was in any case of no use ;-)) If you want a SSH
account just mail me and/or Arjun your desired username and we will
create one for you.

It would be great if we even have a Planet blogs to ramble some
interesting stuff.

A Planet would be nice with blog feeds of all the GLUGers. Those who
have an account also get their own hosting space at
http://www.glug-nith.org/~username

On a sidenote, you can also pay a visit to
http://planet-india.randomink.org/ which is Planet FLOSS India
consisting of all the Free Software hackers/advocates of India.

We have mediawiki, MoinMoin the best on Wiki. Wordpress and TypePad in
Blogs.

Seeing the rapid progress of ILUG-Cal at http://www.ilug-cal.org/wiki
I would prefer a wiki. We had discussed this issue at the last GLUG
meet. Sagar has taken the responsibility in this regard. I think you
should co-ordinate with him.

I know its end of academic year and you guys are pretty much busy with
Labs and other stuff, but it doesn't take more than couple of hours to
configure these.

Once you have the SSH account I guess there would be no stopping you. :-D

Rishi/Arjun/Rakesh,

What's your call on this?

Great. Once we are out you should be talking more to
Sagar/Vivek/Divya. Let us do it.

Cheers,
Debarshi
