The mirror we had talked about is the GNU mirror which contains GNU programs.
It is already present at http://gnu.glug-nith.org/
It is the only GNU mirror from India till now

The Fedora mirror is the mirror for the Fedora distribution ie. let's say if I
install Fedora on my machine then we need a lot of software which do not come
in the Install CD/DVD so if I need those programs I need to download them from
a repository which is like a big pool tank of programs. Different servers host
such a content. In order to ease working for users and to enable fast download
we have created  mirror of that big pool on the GLUG server. This is the Fedora
mirror. Also configurations are set so that a user when he gets any Fedora 8 
program he will automatically sent to the GLUG server. No need for any extra 
configurations for him. This also applies for Software updates for Fedora 8

This Fedora mirror is at http://fedora.glug-nith.org

We are also creating a similar mirror for Ubuntu at http://ubuntu.glug-nith.org/

All this mirrors are being created to ease the accessibility of users to such
softwares that he requires and this also saves the College bandwidth as it cuts
down on redundant downloads.
