GNU Generation (http://www.fsf.org/gnugeneration) is a new program to
invite young people (approximately 13-18 years old) into the world of free
software. Students will participate in specific projects during this
continuous program; most of these projects, or tasks, will involve
participants joining up with free software projects.

In order to get ready for the official announcement in a few days, we are
looking for free software developers who are interested in inviting young
people into their projects.

Developers can create specific tasks, or projects, for students to
complete. These projects should be specific enough for the student to know
exactly what to do and where to start, but broad enough so that there is
no specific finish line. The goal of GNU Generation is to bring young
people into free software projects and the wider community, not to have
specific small jobs completed by them.

If you do not have any specific ideas for projects, but would prefer to
have students think of their own projects related to your application, you
can leave your contact information and an overview of your free software
application under the "Project specific" section of the brainstorming page
on the site. If you have any ideas unrelated to a specific free software
application, you can feel free to add them to the top part of this page as
well.

Again, there is no guarantee that any one project will be chosen by
students, though whether selected or not, projects represented here will
definitely gain more exposure to participants. If you are interested,
please see http://groups.fsf.org/wiki/GNU_Generation/Help_your_project for
more information on how GNU Generation can help students while helping
your free software project.

Thank you all, and happy hacking!
