Hello,
As you all might know,
GSOC 2014 has been announced and currently, the
organization application period is on. According to previous year's
Fedora Project ideas page, some Glusterfs projects have
been listed there for a couple of years, but either no
one ever chooses them, or their proposals are never
selected as there is no mention of any gluster projects
under fedora on gsoc's previous year's site.
So my question is that, is Gluster's stand as a
prospective org under Fedora project strong, or is there a
chance that Gluster will register
as an independent organization on GSOC. Because, as an
interested student, I think it's my duty to remind you
about the approaching application deadline(which is just
a couple of days away [1]).
As for the project, I'm
already in constant contact with Krishnan Parthasarathi for the past
few weeks and I'm getting valued feedback from the
community regarding
the proposed glusterfsiostat project.
Gluster is already a
very rich community with many vibrant and experienced
developers. Plus this year, Google's accepting about 10%
more organizations than usual. So, I think that Gluster
has a very good chance of being selected. An ideas page
from 2010 and the most recent one is already present at
[2] and [3]. Some official guidance can be obtained from
[4]. Also, Fedora project wiki can always be referred
for a first hand example. If I can be of any help in
this regard, please do contact me. :-)
