I think the challenge is not so much generating an rpm with alien, but installing it that is the problem, because dependencies might be named differently.

As for building GM2 against newer GCC versions, if you just want to write Modula-2 programs, I don't see much point. Just download the sources of the GCC version that GM2 is built against and use that?

Can't say before trying it out, so, pls. go ahead and produce one!

Otoh, I'm still thinking about using OBS to produce proper package for
openSUSE and possible some other distros and need *.spec file for it in
any case.

Another concern is that my openSUSE Tumbleweed is at gcc-5.1.x so I
wonder about the progress of building GM2 against it?
