You can already do this with a simple series of X commands.

Use xwd to grab the contents of the window and pipe that through image files converters to get whatever formate you desire.

Eg: xwd -nobrdrs (this is to get only the contents of the window, without the WM decorators) |xwdtopnm | pnmtojpeg

Hello,

Firstly, thanks to everyone who has volunteered work on this interesting
project!

I am wondering if it would be possible to execute Gnash from the commandline to convert frames of a SWF to some other format (any graphic format, e.g. animated GIF, single frame as JPG or SVG etc) and output the file somewhere.
This would be extremly useful as there is currently no way to convert a SWF to
graphic on the fly (i.e. in a webserver). I want this functionality so that I
can convert beautiful flash graphs (e.g. FusionCharts) to something that can be
embedded in a PDF, all on the fly in a linux/apache webserver environment.

Is this at all possible?

Thanks for any ideas or comments,
John
