Thanks, this is useful.

The stuff under doc/4_0_beta1 is documentation for 4.0 beta 1, and the HTML 
pages won't be regenerated until we release beta 2 (in a few weeks). The 
authoritative source is the Texinfo (.texi) docs in the doc directory in CVS.
