Actually, I did the job of backportinge Gnote to GTK+ 2.12 already (so that
it would work on gNewSense metad).

I just built & tested gnote 0.5.2-1 on gNewSense i386, and it seems to work
fine.

How should I proceed about this, shall I send a patch for Builder?

I think the mature, well-stablished option is GThumb.  There's also Solang,
which is a new development and seems to be popular these days (also worth
noting it's GPLv3).

But I don't use this kind of software either.  Perhaps someone who's more
familiar with this sort of application (specially with F-Spot) could look
into these 3 apps?
