gNewSense 3.0 is based on Debian 6.0, which shipped OOo 3.2. I think the
next version of gNewSense will be based on 7.0 which includes
LibreOffice 3.5.
I think Sam Geeraerts (gNewSense project leader) said that he wouldn't
work on backports for the current gNewSense release because of the
limited support lifetime of Debian 6.0. Of course, that doesn't prevent
other people from working on the backports.
