Start with:
for naming be punny
fire fox
see
ice weasel
it has to be different due to upstream
burning dog
burn dog
burn does not read as well as burning
if you want to build a myth then
burning is seen in some traditions as a good thing as it renews the land
and removes that which thwarts growth but that is taking it way too far
