 I've just found the table summarizing the latest versions of the linux kernel that will be included in the next release of Ubuntu here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+publishinghistory.

 As the next release of gNewSense will be a 100% free Hardy, I think the best thing to do is to check the latest version of the kernel available from now, that is:

- the linux-2.6.24-12.22 (12 Mar 08), but I don't know how to download the linux-2.6.24-12.22 at once, it seems that we have to do some operations to merge the "linux_2.6.24.orig.tar.gz" and the "linux_2.6.24-12.22.diff.gz" files at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/linux/2.6.24-12.22. So, if you know how to do, you're welcome!

- the linux-2.6.24-8.14 (14 Feb 08) is the latest directly available (one file, not two separated files) for download at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/linux/2.6.24-8.14 (but it isn't the last version...).

 By doing the Freedom Verification on the latest version, it will spare our time when Hardy (and then the release of the last kernel used in it) will be released.

 In one sentence: I want opinions of people who see how to merge the two 'linux-2.6.24-12.22' files if even possible and of KFV checkers (notably Marco for his tremendous work with the 2.6.24-8.13).


 Moreover, I'm writing a page on the licenses, based on the gnu's licenses page, you can find it at http://wiki.gnewsense.org/Licenses/Licenses. The main objective of this is to let the KFV checkers write a link pointing directly to the license (on the site responsible for this license) they find. It could save lot of time for widely used licenses like GPLv2 (as checkers won't have to create a new page describing the content of the license but just a link in the table of checking). Moreover, this will facilitate the future KFV work by scripting: the script would compare the exact content of the new file license and the checked file license and not human-readable things like 'various licenses'.

 So, given the work of Marco, given that the last version of Hardy kernel is not easily 'checkable' (sorry for my english...), given that the next release of gNewSense will be based on Hardy (and on his kernel), I recommend everybody to use the linux-2.6.24-8.13 to do the KFV.

 Once we all agree on how to do the KFV, we will have to:
- update the http://wiki.gnewsense.org/Main/DocumentingYourWorkKernel page;
- format the table of http://wiki.gnewsense.org/Kernel/Image with the kernel version choosen;
- those who already used the "2.6.34-8.13" version will only have to modify the links urls (and continue the KFV afterwards), the others will have to recheck their sections with the new version (8.13).


 By the way, I've noticed that the italian team translated the www site, so congratulations!
