Interesting

I also like the change, since i don't know what would happen with Ubuntu
if Canonical takes other desicions (i'm a newbie and don't know very much about this)

I think there is no need for gNewSense to support so many arquitectures
i tried Debian Lenny and it is too complicated for non experts,

it amazes me that the development group is less than five

salud!!

Hi,

I read the faq at http://www.gnewsense.org/index.php?n=FAQ.FAQ#toc13 .
Why is gNewSense 3.0 going to be based on Debian instead of Ubuntu?
Are there ethical as well as technical reasons, or only ethical? I'm
interested to know.

Cheers

I am quite happy about the change, but would also like to know why.
Just speculating, but I suppose that there may be multiple reasons.

Ubuntu also supports AMD64, but gNewSense never did. So it seems to
follow that just because Debian supports 21 different architectures it
does not necessarily follow that gNewSense must, or will.

Hi,

Well Ubuntu works on Mac (old architecture) too.

But as gNS stay Free like Freedom ;)
And if it can protect our privacy too ...

My fault, I'll take the bullet for that one.

Absolutely, there is no valid reason for us to try and support all
architectures supported by debian - with our current development group
(less then 5).
