I recently got interested in Arch and I am planning
to learn more about it. But first I had to build
it on Windows. I found one related message in the archives
and used its instructions. I got tla release 1.1pre5 to build
following these steps :
- create separate "build" directory (parallel to src)
- cd to this directory
- run ../src/configure --with-cc gcc --config-shell /bin/bash
- run make
Which works fine. Then I ran make test and got errors, the same
as in the archived message, i.e. for the "fs-tests" directory
(the error messages not telling me much), but then I disabled
this test to see which other tests would fail.
There was only more more directory that had errors, and that was
"unidata-tests". However, the only problem there is that the two
files being compared - ",tmp" and ",tmp2" - use different types
of line breaks, otherwise they are identical.
This looks encouraging - although I would like to know more about
why these file systems tests are failing.
I am going to read the tutorial and see how it goes when I am
actually using Arch.
