An effective workaround is in place for CVS placing files created on
branches on the trunk, without some of the nasty side effects from
previously suggested solutions (*ahem*).
Rebuild your catalog (-b) with patch-57. Created-dead revisions are
given revtype PLACEHOLDER, and the next revtype of CHANGE on said file
is treated as an ADD by totla, log and diff.
