True, that's one method, but it seems good to allow keeping archival logs in
a format that's still in the normal log namespace (and includes all header
info, etc); it's probably the sort of thing that some people care not at all
about, but about which others obsess greatly... :-)
[Of course, as always, I suppose code talks...]
