'tla inventory' currently accepts a directory, and scans its
contents. Several times now I've found that what I really wanted was
to give it the name of a specific file, and just classify that one.
For extra usefulness, in this mode the meaning of -sbpju changes
slightly: if the named file is not of the given type, exit with a
non-zero status (but behave the same in all other respects).
There's also a secondary problem here: a clone of 'ls -d' is required,
to test a directory rather than its contents.
