From: Matthieu Moy
Subject: [Gnu-arch-users] [ANNOUNCE] Xtla 1.0 released
Date: Tue, 24 May 2005 20:33:47 +0200
User-agent: Gnus/5.1002 (Gnus v5.10.2) Emacs/21.4 (gnu/linux)

After a looong testing period, Xtla has finally reached the first
official stable release: 1.0.

Xtla is the Emacs front-end to the GNU Arch revision control system.
It provides user-friendly wrappers for tla native commands and some
higher level features such as the bookmark manager.

The main features are:

  * PCL-CVS like interface for tla inventory and tla changes

  * Archive browser - navigate painlessly through archives, categories,
    branches, versions, etc.

  * Good integration in Emacs - almost everything can be done from
    within the editor

  * Bookmark manager - keep the most frequently used arch locations in
    your bookmark buffer

  * Integration with ediff, Emacs's graphical diff tool
      - to view changes made in a local tree.
      - to view and resolve conflicts after a merge.

  * Interface to view missing patches from all your partners with a
    single command

  * An Emacs mode for arch-related files (log files, =tagging-method)

This version is a bugfix release and contain no noticeable features
compared to the 0.99.

Information about Xtla can be found here:

  http://wiki.gnuarch.org/xtla

We also have a project page on http://gna.org (savannah.gnu.org-like),
where you can find information about the mailing list, the online
manual, the download area, and the bug tracker (also used for feature
requests):

  https://gna.org/projects/xtla-el

Since it is still under development, the recommended way to install Xtla
is from the archive found here:

  http://www-verimag.imag.fr/~moy/arch/public

The version is

  address@hidden/xtla--main--1.0

Xtla can also be downloaded as a tarball from here

  http://download.gna.org/xtla-el/

Or installed as a Debian package by adding

  deb http://download.gna.org/xtla-el/apt/ unstable/

to your sources.list file.

The development of Xtla mostly stopped for a few months, but has
restarted with the opening of the 1.1 branch. It's not considered as
stable yet, but people may want to try it out. The main new feature is
the support for baz in addition to tla (including some new baz
features like annotate or switch). Expect a lot of performance
improvements and small useability tuning too.
