Take a look at the example in mutopia/N.W.Gade/
In brass.ly, for example, you'll find a separate
voice corIcue with cue notes for the first horn 
part, which is used in parts.ly but not in score.ly.
Anyway, in 1.2.17 you get small notes using the 
predefined macro \tiny.
