Or, if you mean the building of the tfm,afm,pfa files that goes on in
the mf subdirectory, you can just remove "mf" from the SUBDIRS in the
toplevel GNUmakefile:
-SUBDIRS = buildscripts scripts flower lily mf midi2ly po debian \
+SUBDIRS = buildscripts scripts flower lily midi2ly po debian \
