Ah, sorry.  It's the (configure process of the) new xdvi that needs
that extra option, of course.  If you do ./configure --help, you can
always see all the possible options.

Try ly2dvi tenor, leave off the .dvi

Convert-ly should do that now.  Maybe you need to do

   conver-ly --from=1.3.145 tenor.ly
