Should we change the name of the "unstable" branch to "develop"?
Why? .. because it seems many others do it that way, and it's
documented.

Gnucap has done it essentially the way described there since moving to
git. (and less formally that way before under RCS). The only real
difference is calling it "unstable" (inspired by Debian "unstable").
