Hi Pippo,

The culprit is "configure: error: libdb is required". Try to
specify --with-db1.

If that doesn't work, get the CVS version (see Roger's mail about name of
dbopen routine).

Hope this helps,

Here are ending lines of configure --with-db

checking for dbopen... no
checking db_185.h usability... yes
checking db_185.h presence... yes
checking for db_185.h... yes
checking db3/db_185.h usability... no
checking db3/db_185.h presence... no
checking for db3/db_185.h... no
checking for __db_dbopen in -ldb... no
configure: error: libdb is required

and the installed db environment (FC2)

Name Arch Version Repo
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----

Looking in Installed Packages:
Name Arch Version Repo
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
db4 i386 4.2.52-3.1 db
db4-devel i386 4.2.52-3.1 db
db4-utils i386 4.2.52-3.1 db

I don't know if this installation is what I need;

"make check" returns:

57: First READ on an empty SEQUENTIAL INDEXED fileFAILED (misc.at:697)
58: REWRITE a RELATIVE file with RANDAM access ok
 59: SORT: table sort ok
60: SORT nonexistent file FAILED (misc.at:808)

Ciao
Pippo
