Your welcome ... It has come a LONG way. Up to version 2.x something now.
I have written what amounts to s "SCREEN" screen handling routine and MENU
for it (in C). Was working on a native MVISAM (multi value ala PICK) for it
as well, till my $$ ran out ...

If I could say "what would be a good replacement for COBOL?", I would
say S-lang with a native ISAM file handler and an EMBEDED Screen section.

Ok, I have been silent on this LISt for a lONG time.

Can I add my 2 cents here?

Tim, why not look at s-lang as a basis for the the NEW COBOL.
It has a COMPLETE screen handling function that IMHO, is superior
to ncurses in some respect. Since it has a interpretor already,
It could be a GOOD place to start for a COBOL environment.

In some ways, it already resembles a COBOL environment.

I've used s-lang in the past, a long time ago. This would be an
alternative when I get to that point.

Thanks for the suggestion - I;ve put it in the ideas section of the
changelog so I won't forget.
