I will tell you for xchat:
When starting xchat, you should get a list of available servers. Under
"OpenProjectsNet" you should find irc.openprojects.net. Select that and
press the "Connect" button.
When you see the welcome message, enter
/join #gnuenterprise
and you can start to chat.
