[gnugo-devel] A question

Dear Gnu Go,

I am currently a very novice programmer and an undergrad in a joint
physics-philosophy diploma. I am interested in not only becoming a
better programmer but also doing some basic AI programing. So I am
writing to ask a couple of questions.

Firstly, where can I acquire the base skills to even began doing more
advanced programming? (Tutorials, reference texts, anything you can
suggest would be helpful.)

Where should I even begin to learn AI programming?

What would be some of the better programming languages to learn for AI
programming? (currently I'm merely beginning to play around with python
as it looks versatile)

Is there some reference material on the theories that your working with
when writing the engine that you can suggest? (Pattern Recognition etc)

Thanks for your time,
Ian Allan
