See?? this is what I was asking all along ... how to make the client aware that the encounter ended... to this day, I can only make AOE by editing the encounter (as I do when I want to change the time stamp)

I am working on a post to tie these together but in preparation need to ask
how is the input of the AOE prompted?
1) I note that EMR > Start new encounter seems to close any opportunity for the entry of an AOE for the encounter just ended. Should there should be a prompt to input the AOE for the ending encounter?
2) I cannot invoke a prompt to be able to input an AOE from inside a patient. It seems I am only prompted if there were unsaved progress notes *and* I attempt to search a different patient. When the progress notes had already been saved (with the prompt for an Episode name, if a new one had been created) there is no prompt to provide an AOE.
Possibly an AOE may only otherwise be prompted after returning to a patient *after* the pre-defined expiry of the encounter??
I am not sure how well (except if I should first have to re-review the chart) I could put in an AOE after having in the meantime engaged one or multiple other patients' issues (and maybe not being prompted at all until the next visit with a patient) questions how easily can a suitable
After Saving a progress note, I appreciate that the visit may not yet be over, because the patient could ask me something else. However if the patient exists the door and 99/100 times do not come immediately back I would want to put in the AOE now.
How about, in the Progress Note editor, a button to enable ending/closing the encounter and prompting input of the AOE?
