When I got to checking python modules it stoped at mx.Date ... then I had to
find what packages contained that module (wich is the python-egenix) and when I
ran the
check-prerequisites.sh again it said it hadn´t found a module (this time the
python-enchant) and so forth ... it took me 5-6 runs with the prerequisites.sh
to get all the
modules.
What I was hoping for is a script that when run would list ALL the modules
missing (better yet, the missing Debian packages) in one run ... so I could
just scroll up my terminal
and copy all these missing prerequistes in one "aptitude install ... " (and
this is why I made the script)
Well, you claimed that editing sources.list is not a good idea
for a beginner, but you spended a lot of time with doing stuff
that needs *a* *lot* more knowledge. So why not just using
the packaged version??
If you really want to avoid to eddit your sources.list (which
I do not really understand) I gave a hint to another option
(proably before you were lurking on this list and so I repeat):
1. Download the gnumed-client packages from unstable.
2. dpkg -i gnumed-*.deb
3. apt-get -f install
The third command should fix all needed dependencies.
You understand what I am trying to say?
I admit no, but I hopy my hint is helpful. (I'm afraid you
are trying to reinvent the wheel instead of learning some
not very advanced Debian administration skills).
This script hacking stuff is complicated to explain ;)Â
My general experience over several years teached me: If the
things you are doing are hard to explain you are probably on the
wrong track. ;-)
Kind regards
Andreas.
