I have no idea how that is possible. LaTeX put it there. I
fear for good reason.

The mark is set by \footnotemark since that will allow to
place the footnote where desired using \footnotetext. Using
\footnote instead would prepend the mark to the footnote but
would auto-place it at the bottom of the page rather than
below the table.
