GNUmed 1.4 can now do this:
$<<<current_meds:: \item[%(substance)s] {\footnotesize
(%(brand)s)}: Dispense $<<free_text::How many %(preparation)s of "%(brand)s" to
dispense ?::>>$ %(preparation)s::>>>$
which will first expand current_meds into lines (by
substance) and then ask for "how many to dispense" for each
line.
Of course, the result is wrong, but that's due to the fact
that GNUmed is not currently designed to handle
prescriptions by means of placeholders.
