If maildrop works the same way, then yes, that would be possible and
should work fine.
When passing mail to procmail, gotmail simply starts the configured
executable (--procmail-bin), and sends the email into the executable's
standard input. When done, gotmail closes the pipe (so the executable
gets an EOF).
Any program that does something with email sent to stdin would work.
