I've got to agree with Greg. We should employ precision when referring to the various GNSS platforms available out there.

Having said that, I tend to use 'Zulu' rather than GMT (and it's not because I'm sloppy, but rather, OLD) because thats wht I was taught when I was learning as a kid... And I still keep all my systems in Z for convenience, and because it makes things a lot easier when the data you're working with all references UTC/Z/GMT

I can see that point, but:

When someone says "GMT" now, it's clear that they mean UTC, either
because they are being loose with terminology, or because they mean the
local wintertime legal timescale in the UK, which I'm assuming is
defined to be UTC (rather than UT0 or UT1 :-).

On the other hand, calling any of the 3 non-GPS GNSS systems GPS is
actually confusing, and people reading gpsd docs are people who should
not be confused.
