Weird.  When I make it not try to set the speed on a /dev/pty then
the regression tests fail.  I guess part of the tcsetattr() is needed,
and is working, while art fails.  So tcsetattr() returns a fail code.

Since Eric is also chasing a different issue in the same spot I have
reverted my changes until he finds his issue and I get inspiration.

I just hate it when a syscall fails, but fails in a good way...

Please test.
